I bought a pot holder, the kind with a pocket and put the pump in that (the black plastic "box" that is creating the buzzing by vibrating. This has helped immensely. Hope it helps you!

I have had the baby biorb for 3 years now and the biorb life as well. Please, please do NOT put goldfish of any type in the biorb. Goldfish need at LEAST a 30 gallon tank. Please do your research and you'll save yourself and a poor goldfish a lot of grief. Goldfish are supposed to live 15 years, a "successful" biorb only keeps them alive about 3 years. Hardly a success. I love my biorbs and they are great for small cold freshwater fish but not goldfish.

Hi ;) I have a BiOrb 30 litre containing 6 neon tetra, 3 guppies, 2 wcm minnows and a Siamese fighting fish, in two years I have only lost a couple of guppies a wcmm and a neon tetra, I think the BiOrb is fantastic, every 4 weeks i do a third water change, wash the filter sponge in water from the tank and vacuum the ceramic media, the filter cartridge is supposed to be renewed every 6 weeks, I renewed mine after 20 months. I feed them a small pinch of king britsh flake food one day then miss a day then a small pinch of Hikari semi- floating micro pellets, my mother in law has had her BiOrb for over 3 years, she replaced the ceramic media with gravel and she keeps 3 common goldfish in there and they are about 3 inches long excluding their tails, they are thriving as are my fish. ;)x

Thanks for this, helps a lot. Great product but the cabling is very flawed - onto my second one now, as after numerous months the power will short if the wire is moved around. So I find I have to reprogram the time every time I do a water change! Annoying :(

My pump seems to be very noisy, especially compared to those in the shop. It produces a very loud 'buzzing' which appears to be generated from the pump itself as well as at the tank end. It makes sitting in my living room quite uncomfortable. Is there anything that can be done to help reduce or correct the noise? Could this pump be faulty?

Having had one for over a year now, I have come to the verdict that it is generally a good tank, but it doesnt go without its drawbacks.

The main drawback for me is that the undergravel filter with the media mean that any muck or left over food gets stuck in the media and isn't removed very well by the filter, which I find is not very good.

The second is one that a few people have mentioned, in that you can't stock it with very many fish. Infact, a single male Betta (possibly with a few small shrimp) will completely fill it. I cannot say that it does not make a great home for a Betta, but not much else will thrive in it. You could maybe try a few male endlers (3-4), but little else. Goldfish all need tanks far bigger (10-15+ Gallons, whereas this is only 4). It is recommended that guppies are in tanks of 10+ Gallons, and so on.

However, one must state that it is indeed a good looking tank, and will fit into most rooms, especially with its large range of avaliable decor from the BiOrb range. It is also a great size for a bedroom, kitchen top or office (and other such spaces).

To sum up, I would probably give this tank a 6/10. If all you want it for is a little office Betta Bud, then its great, but if you're looking for anything else, then it most likely isn't going to be the right tank for you.

Is the Intelligent Heater available in the US yet? I can't seem to find it anywhere! It doesn't look like the previous posters have had much luck, though. Is it worth it?
Thanks!
